Event description:

More than 500,000,000 straws are used once and tossed every day in this country. Ocean Conservancy ranks plastic straws as the number five most popular found item on beaches and the vast majority of them aren't recycled, so they wind up in landfills, litter streets and add to the estimated 8.5 million metric tons of plastic debris in oceans annually.

Join Bull City Burger and Brewery, Pompieri Pizza, and Duke Environmental Law and Policy Clinic, along with Keep Durham Beautiful, The City of Durham Stormwater & GIS Services, and local environmentally conscious businesses on Thursday, February 22 at 6 PM for a free screening of the acclaimed documentary, STRAWS. This event will launch a month-long #SkipTheStrawDURM campaign for Durham.

6:00 PM - Reception ft. Cash Bar & Raffle
7:00 PM - "Don't Litter Man" PSA with Pierce Freelon + STRAWS film screening
Followed by Panel Discussion and Kick-off to #SkiptheStrawDurm
