The BEETLES (Better Environmental Education, Teaching, Learning, and Expertise Sharing) learning sessions are active experiences crafted to encourage instructors to look at specific aspects of research-based science pedagogy and to inspire shifts in instructors’ thinking about their own teaching and learning. Developed by the Lawrence Hall of Science, these hands-on and interactive sessions promote a student-centered approach to help participants better engage with science and the natural world through inquiry. This workshop will focus on Questioning Strategies and Assessing for Learning.
Format: This course will hosted in-person at Chimney Rock State Park in Chimeny Rock, NC.
Facilitator: Michelle Pearce
Eligible for 6 hours of Criteria I or continuing education credit for the NC DEQ EE Certificate.
Other Information: This workshop will include time outdoors, so please dress for the weather. You will need to bring your own lunch, snacks, and beverages.
COVID Safety Requirements: This workshop will take place primarily indoors. Masks are not currently required at this location. We will be following the most up-to-date safety guidelines recommended by the CDC based on Community Levels. As things are constantly changing, you will hear from the facilitator about any specific requirements as the date approaches.
