About This Event
EENC and our partners at the NC Office of EE are working on a new Environmental Literacy Plan. This statewide document will outline goals and broad strategies for ensuring North Carolina’s K-12 students develop the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about issues that affect our natural resources while balancing cultural perspectives, the economy, public health, and the environment. The draft plan currently includes these five focus areas:
- K-12 Education in Schools
- Community Collaborations and Partnerships
- Place-Based and Outdoor Learning
- School Grounds and Facilities
- Professional Development
We need your help to draft Collaborator Guides that describe tailored recommendations for specific audiences. Everyone has a role to play in supporting environmental literacy in our state, so these quick-reference guides will serve as a checklist of action steps that environmental educators can and should take to collectively support K-12 students.
Join us January 31 at 3:30 pm to learn more about this project and begin collaboratively discussing potential action steps in small groups, focusing on schools, nonformal EE providers, statewide field support networks, higher education, and community organizations.
Register here for this working session. If you cannot attend but would like to contribute to this process, go ahead and register for the event so you receive follow-up information.
